Andrew Cuerden
From the inspiration of Dirty Dancing in 1986 to performing on Strictly Come Dancing in 2005 Andrew worked tirelessly to become a world class championship dancer. Competing from the age of 12 to 31 in championships in nearly every continent around the world. Andrew and his professional partner Hanna Haarala achieved 24th place in the Professional world Latin American Rankings in 2006.
Since Andrew’s retirement from competing in 2008 he has focused his passion on performing, teaching and adjudicating. This has involved studying for higher teaching and adjudicating qualifications as well as learning other social partner dancing styles. Andrew’s teaching is based at Club Semley in Norbury SW16.
Andrew’s involvement as a professional dancer on BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing in 2005 created many opportunities. These include, dancing on Brendan Cole’s “Live & Unjudged” stage tours, organising and running social dance weekends, events and corporate team building projects, performing and teaching on cruise liners and last but not least becoming the Patron for Dance Syndrome an organisation for dancers with mental or physical disabilities.
The mix of Andrew’s creative passion for anything dance related along and with his friendly, well mannered, honest and determined approach creates the basis for his business.
